We’ve invested in the innovative PremiumSetter D1700 to give our clients access to unbelievable print quality with the most innovative printing solutions available. With greater reliability and fewer design restrictions, you’re looking at consistently stand-out packaging.
Are you as excited as we are? Let’s take a look at what the HELL PremiumSetter D1700 has to offer.
Here at Pulse, our mission is simple: to make the world’s best packaging better.
That means constantly looking out for more innovative ways of working with our brands and printers and investing in the best tech for the job.
HELL Gravure Systems is one of the best-known and respected manufacturers of prepress engraving systems in the world. With an eighty-year heritage and laser focus on research and development, the company has developed some of the most successful engraving systems of all time.
The PremiumSetter D1700 is one of HELL’s most versatile pieces of kit, able to engrave both elastomer printing forms, including flexo sleeves and printing plates. The most exciting features are the PremiumSetter’s elastomer sleeve capabilities that make engraving all kinds of elastomer a walk in the park.
Before we get into what makes the PremiumSetter so special, here’s a quick note on continuous sleeve printing versus printing plates.
Flexo printing is traditionally done using plates, which are, of course, a tried and tested, cost-effective option. But while plates are widely used for long runs and high volumes, they can lose durability in certain applications, and they usually leave a print seam rather than producing a continuous design.
On the other hand, print sleeves give a continuous print with seamless designs for full-wrap packaging while also remaining effective for long-run, high-volume printing.
For a lot of our clients, continuous sleeves are the way to go, especially now we’ve invested in this new tech to make sleeve engraving higher quality, easier and more accurate.
But hey, if you really are a fan of printing plates or a plate-sleeve mix, that’s okay too. The versatility of the PremiumSetter means it can handle plates as well as sleeves, giving you better accuracy and higher quality, whichever printing method you go for. Win-win.
Next-level print quality
Most standard UK printing forms offer a resolution of 2400 dpi. But the
PremiumSetter’s high-powered direct laser sleeve engraving capabilities mean that you can now expect print quality of 5080 dpi – over double the resolution.
That’s sharper print for a better-quality end result.
You’ll see better ink distribution on your packaging too, meaning greater density and opacity when needed through microcell patterns (ideal for reducing ink usage) and higher quality gradients with customisable dot shoulders. That. means easier colour management and better brand consistency across products and substrates. Quality packaging for quality brands.
Dream bigger, design bigger
All brand managers and packaging designers know the struggle of having to go back to the drawing board on the design of their dreams because of limitations with the printing method. But having access to the latest printing form technology means the possibilities are essentially limitless.
Forget the seams and lift issues that plague polymer plates and enter the wonderful world of elastomer continuous printing sleeves. They’re easier to use, less prone to error, more environmentally friendly and far more resistant to aggressive chemistry used in inks and varnishes than polymer forms. That means you can go wild with disruptive packaging featuring high-lustre or tactile varnishes that give your product the edge when consumers are scanning shelves.
Reliable results
Did we mention this is a HELL Gravure Systems engraver? That means seriously reliable results. Their machines are easier to look after, with better options for self-cleaning and no chemical processing required. A lower-maintenance piece of kit means a lower chance of problems and pauses along the manufacturing process and fewer bottlenecks in your supply chain.
Plus, on the off-chance that something does go wrong, we’ve chosen a machine that can be back up and running in no time. The modular build means that we can replace most parts ourselves without waiting for an external engineer, and the HELL team is only a call away if we do need them. Tried and tested technology doesn’t get better than this.
