WHY YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO CUT COLOUR MANAGEMENT CORNERS

Colour management is arguably one of the most important factors when it comes to the success of your next new product development (NPD) project. For you big brands out there, it’s an essential factor in your brand recognition. There are few things more disappointing than creating the most beautiful, stand out digital design file, only for it to lose impact when it hits the shelves – all because there was no colour management.

Cutting corners when it comes to colour management can cause serious issues to your project timeline and your final results, so can you really afford for your colours to be inconsistent or substandard?

POOR COLOUR MANAGEMENT DEVALUES
YOUR PRODUCTS

Delivering projects on time and to the standards expected is of paramount importance. Investing time in professional colour management gives you a better idea of exactly what your end result will look like.

Continual back and forth on inaccurate colours will cause unnecessary delays to your project and make it more difficult for you to manage expectations of the end result. Poor colour management causes inconsistencies and inaccuracies which can be the death of a successful brand.

Accurate and effective colour management allows you to know what your final product will look like out there in the real world. Inaccuracies not only mean delays, but they can cause you a heck of headache with a lot to rectify along the way. And we know you don’t have time for that.

That’s why at Pulse, we work closely with printers, fingerprinting presses and capturing press data which then allows us to set accurate, achievable, and repeatable colour targets for your brand. Because printer A doesn’t speak to printer B and C, we communicate this target data directly between each printer – closing the loop so you know exactly what you’re going to get every single time for all your packaging types, across multiple substrates. This is what allows us to deliver consistency, consistently.

REPEATABILITY IS KEY

Accurate recording of press data at the fingerprint stage means we can deliver consistent and repeatable results in conjunction with your printer partners. We use the latest software solutions from Esko, GMG OpenColor and Xrite, to capture data, make press/plate adjustments, produced through our studio workflow, colour managed design files and calibrated colour proof. Our press data reporting helps to drive the all-important brand consistency so what you see on proof is what you get on press. How colour management helped a national treasure brand reduce their colour portfolio from 190 colours to just 7. If you want to see an example of colour management in action, look no further than our work with national treasure brand, Birdseye.
